After reading the other reviews here I was hesitant about ordering these shoes. However, the price was right at $40. I wear a size 9 which seems to be a size 40 in most European brands that I have purchased, so ignore the Amazon.com size chart. Anyway, the size 40 fits me perfectly! They are comfy and have a nice roomy toe box. The heel is not too high, which is always a complaint of mine. If you account for the slight platform in the front, the heel is only about 1 1/2". Several people have commented on the instep being too tight. I have very high arches and yet this doesn't feel tight on me. Perhaps because of the size chart, people have been ordering the wrong size! They are slightly complicated to put on because of the criss-cross strap. Also, because the heel has a funky shape, it would have been nice to have been provided with a replacement rubber part for when the heel wears down. I live in a city and walk a lot so I am always getting my shoes repaired. These are relatively small complaints but for these reasons I am giving them only 4 stars.
